Please find below details of a letter sent home today.  If your child is not in school, please email in the requested information below and you may want to arrange collection of a home learning booklet from the school office.

BELMONT PRIMARY SCHOOL                                                                     18 March 2020

Dear Parents

With such uncertain times ahead I wanted to write to update you on our schools current actions. It is inevitable that schools will close at some stage but the date and duration are currently unknown. Our teachers are working hard to prepare work packs for each class. These will be available via our website and details will follow. Although it will only be a fraction of the good work we do in class, it is our best attempt to ensure your child's education can continue to progress in these difficult times. Work packs will be available, following official closure, on Sundays for the coming week for each class. Details of online reading resources (Bug Club) will also be provided in the near future.

I would ask you to complete the slip below giving your email address. This will enable me to email you directly with your child's school report if school closures are in June. Please send this information in tomorrow so that I can begin to build a database. We will also continue to post updates on our website.

As details have emerged over the weekend that the virus is now community spread, we have made the decision to cancel our PTA cinema night. Whilst the normal school activities will continue as usual, until otherwise advised, we wish to minimise the potential to spread this virus. Some after school clubs by outside agencies will continue to run in the interim, however it is the parents decision as to whether their child stays for these clubs. P3 clubs on Tuesday afternoons are cancelled to enable staff to continue to prepare resources for the weeks ahead. In the meantime I know all parents will follow Public Health agency advice. If you or a member of your household develops a new cough or a temperature we would ask you to self isolate and keep us informed.

Your support is very much appreciated in these unknown and unprecedented times.

Yours sincerely

Mrs O McIlroy, Principal.
