An update from Mrs McIlroy
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that it has been almost 12 weeks since schools were closed and lockdown started. No one ever predicted how long this would go on and the whole staff and I miss the children so much. We really do appreciate all the regular updates and photos and are very grateful of the time you have taken to do this. I am sure home schooling has not been without challenges but I hope the activities provided were enjoyed by your children. At this time of year we know the children are tired and this year is particularly hard as they will be missing their friends and usual school routine. We would normally have school trips, concerts and special days and activities at this time of year but sadly, these cannot take place this year. For the last couple of weeks of term I would suggest making a judgement and only doing some of the activities if your child is now finding work onerous. We will however continue to provide activities until the end of term, should you wish to do them all.
We have gathered up all the children's books and belongings, school photos if ordered, details of new class teachers for next year and a hard copy of the school report. We have set aside a few days when these can be collected from the school assembly hall if convenient and trust that the social distancing rules will be adhered to. We will be operating a one way system and staggered times. We will of course keep all items for September if you are not able to collect and will email reports if preferred. Dates and times are:
Current P3 ( and siblings of P3 pupils ) between 9am and 12 noon on Thursday 18th June
Current P2 ( and siblings of P2 pupils) between 12 noon and 3 pm on Thursday 18th June
Current P1 between 9am and 12 noon on Friday 19th June
Packs for new P1 pupils will also be available for siblings due to come in September on these dates.
We are still waiting for details from the Department of Education and the Re-start programme team regarding definite plans for school to re-open safely. As soon as we are aware of the guidance we will put procedures in place for Belmont and convey them to you.
To ensure our records are up to date, please email us if you have moved house this year to ensure we have your current address.
We really cannot wait to welcome your children back to Belmont and have our happy school back to a new normal.
Best wishes and thank you for your continued support
