P1JC Counting Syllables
4th Feb 2022
P1JC have been learning all about syllables. A syllable is a single, unbroken vowel sound in a word. They usually have a vowel or two if one is silent. All words are made from at least one syllable. We clapped out syllables and then we pointed to numbered circles to count how many syllables different objects had. eg ba-na-na has 3 syllables, cat has 1 syllable and pen-cil has 2 syllables. The children were amazing at this and can’t wait to show you in their syllable homework this week. 🤩
