P2SM Maths Investigations

6th Mar 2020

We had some problem solving to do this week. We listened to the story 'Jasper's Beanstalk' and then Mrs Pherson explained to use that on Friday his beanstalk was 1 cube tall and that it grew by 2 cubes each subsequent day. We had to use Multilink cubes to investigate and record how tall the beanstalk was each day and then work out which day it was 13 cubes high. Some boys and girls worked out that if we counted in 2s using odd numbers we would quickly solve the problem. Once we worked out the answer we then had to add to our recording grid and find out which day it was 21 cubes tall. We worked really well and as you can see were really focused on solving the problem.
