P3 HM STEM Activities
Today we had a very exciting morning when a parent from our class came in to talk to us all about structural engineering. We learnt about the importance of structures and how they need to be strong and stable. We then carried out 3 activities, the children worked in pairs to build and test some structural problems.
The first involved building the tallest tower with paper cups and lollipops, the second was building a bridge using straws and play dough and the third task was building strong shapes to support books. The children made 3 different columns and got to test them to see which was the strongest to support the most books.
It was a fantastic morning and thoroughly enjoyed by all the children. I think we have many engineers in our class for the future! Many thanks to our class parent.
